About Yamove!
The Yamove! project makes use of a novel movement-based smart phone game Moveit! with coop scoring (created by Ben Miller and Aaron Vanderbeek), adding an extended social framework through leaderboards and Twitter feeds (built by Katherine Isbister’s team at NYU-Poly's Game Innovation Lab. The project explores an area of opportunity and growth in the mobile phone sector—smart phone gaming that involves real world physical activity and interaction, towards generating positive emotions and social connection.
We plan to deploy the game over the next year at several conferences, to conduct research that examines how game interactions affect players’ emotions and social connections. Based on prior research, we expect to see increased engagement and a sense of closeness among players.
